Last night, I met with my sister Akylina and our dear friend Jenny to finalize details about our show but after much discussion we realized that the flu had affected Akylina's voice and my voice too much so we are postponing the show till further notice. I was very disappointed but we want to make sure we can put on a great show for everyone. We are currently trying to coordinate our schedules and will let everyone know asp when it will be.
Of course, we will still be releasing "Friday Night" on Sunday. I had promised to share the story behind it at the show but since it isn't happening, I will share the story on Sunday.
"Friday Night is the 7th track of my nonlinear concept album "Nat's Jazz House." The idea behind the album is imagine visiting Nat's bar where women share their stories with eachother - their romances - their failed romances - their hopes - their fears.
I first came up with the album in 2018 when I was in my favourite city of NYC. There in a little bar, I heard a dj flawlessly mix Frank Sinatra and Alicia Keys together and was inspired. The album didn't fully take off until the lockdown of 2020 where I had actually had time to full imagine and excicute it. I'm thankful to my producer Murray Yates for his talent and time & the wonderful musicians who played on this album.
I hope you enjoy this album as much as I enjoyed creating it!
